4 of the Best Dry Skin Soaps

Soaps plays an important part in cleansing our body of external pathogens Soaps may not have to be antithesis for the dry skin problem, as we often hear people say “only use mild cleansers or mild soaps if you must use a soap or cleanser” .Though it’s true most soaps are not dry skin friendly, there are many soaps which will leave you moisturized and supple. That being said avoid all products that have an alcohol base or are alkaline, as it removes the skin’s natural oils. These soap contain drying ingredients agent which may lead to cracks and infection if you have extreme dry skin. That being said the soaps I have used over the years are the following:-

i, Glycerin soaps – Home-made glycerin soaps have been some of the best I have used, scented, supple and moisturizing feel. When you apply the soap, glycerin is easily absorbed by the skin and provides much needed oil as opposed to  making the skin loose the essential oils.

ii, Flower oil based soaps – These are high quality soaps made from flower oil extracts and leaves an invigorating smell on your body. They are bit pricey and can be great for gifts and souvenirs (some places in Canada and USA makes unique type of handmade soaps). Some examples are lemon balm which is a very soothing herb that can ease the symptom of eczema. lemon Verbena, has great therapeutic properties originating from South Africa. Orange Flower is mostly used in perfumes for ladies because of its rich smell most importantly, orange flowers has great healing properties for dry skin.

iii, Herbal Soaps – Herbal soaps have been used in many cultures for centuries and are known not only for healing but also therapeutic benefits. Many ayurvedic soaps have been used b dry skin sufferers and it has been proven beneficial in long term.

iv, Milk based soaps - These soaps are rarely known in commercial market and are mostly homemade. They provide high moisturizing content but the retention and absorbtion by the skin compared to other soaps is low. Highly recommended to try milk based soaps.

Try all the above , mix and match until you find the one which will rectify and remedy your dry skin problem and you can stay and remain soft and supple.
